Probably the most frequently asked question in my community is: How do I find my purpose? Here at Lavii we believe that a life with purpose is the only true life to live, which is why we are dedicated to helping women find their real life purpose. So, let’s dive right in.
One of our core values at Lavii is fulfilment. We are here to inspire ambitious, free spirited women to lead a life with purpose but in order to do so and in order to engage in ultimate life design and create a life you love, you need to know what your life purpose is. You need to find your passion and turn it into a career.
When I first started out with life design I had no idea how important it was to find your purpose in life. I just knew I wanted to live life as fulfilling as possible. I wanted to do what I loved for the rest of my life but I hardly knew what that looked like.
And let’s be real most college grads don’t know… I mean, how can we? We have spent most of our lives up until that point on doing what we were told to do: going to school, going to college, making money with side jobs, etc.
We get thought so much b*sh*t but what no one teaches us is what the hell we should do with our lives.
But don’t you worry, I get it and I am here to help you because YOU deserve to live an extraordinary life and you deserve to do it on YOUR terms. Soo… let’s find you that purpose.
Look I get it, you are fresh out of college or have already worked a few years and now you’re wondering what the point is in all of this. You feel lost as to what to do with your life and you lack fulfilment and purpose.
It’s really frustrating because you feel the need to have it all figured out and to finally know who you are and where your place is in this world. You so desperately want to be successful and live this life you imagine for yourself but you have the nagging voice of friends, family and society in the back of your mind that tells you to GROW UP and take life more seriously.
You have no idea what to do and just really want to know who you are and where you are going.
I get it, I have been there you know…
The thing is, in order to find your purpose, you first need to find yourself.
You need to shut out everyone and everything around you and give yourself the time and space to tune into yourself and ask yourself what it is that YOU want.
So, before we continue, take a moment, maybe even a few days to really tune into yourself without any distractions (go on a retreat or something). And while you are there, by yourself, with yourself. Ask: What do I want out of life? And then listen.
Explore the ideas that come to mind. Visualize and imagine your perfect life and write down the key components, your core values, your Non-Negotiables, the things that MUST be in your life.
Once you know who you are and what matters to you, there is only two things you need to do when it comes to finding your purpose: discover your passions and find your why.
Let’s start with the second:
Knowing your WHY is so powerful and so important when it comes to finding your life purpose.
You may have heard about the concept of WHY but let me introduce it to you once more:
There are a few different ways to see why:
For our purpose only the two last definitions of why are important: The difference you want to make aka. your outer purpose & the reason you do what you do aka. your inner purpose
To find your whys all you need to do is reflect.
Ask yourself what do you want to see differently in this world. What would you like to change. This is your outer purpose: the way in which you will give back. The thing that you need to turn into a career.
Ask yourself why you do what you do. What is the reason that you want this extraordinary life. What is the dream of all dreams. Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? This is your inner purpose: the reason for your doing, the foundation of your goals, the place where you need to be.
But remember: we as human kind also have a collective purpose and that is living, being alive, being present, enjoying the moment. So, in order to feel content, happy and fulfilled what you ultimately also need to work on is your mindfulness.
Once you know your why’s all that is left is for you to discover what you CURRENTLY are passionate about. Careers can change, life contexts can change. We human beings are not supposed to do the same thing for the rest of our lives so instead of trying to figure out what your purpose is or what you should be doing for the rest of your life, figure out WHAT NEXT.
What do you want to be doing for the next 2-3 years? What are you passionate about right now that you could make money with. What do you want to achieve in the next chapter of your life? Where do you want to be in 2 years from now?
Finding your purpose and discovering your passion is not about figuring it all out. It is about creating awareness around what matters to you and how your next level life should look like and then executing on your life’s purpose is all about staying true to who you are and what matters to you + doing everything in your power to work towards that next level life.
